Kaltern attracts racing cyclists, gravel bikers
E-bikers in all classes

Kaltern attracts racing cyclists, gravel bikers and e-bikers in all classes.
Because everything fits together here: Sunshine, countryside - and a cycle path network that takes you seamlessly from village to village. The destination is often the market square in Kaltern: pretty cafés, delicious ice cream parlours, an espresso in between. Then it's off to the surrounding wine villages, where cycling and culture are naturally intertwined. If you like it long and flat, you can cycle to Trento in a relaxed manner - and travel back by train for free with the Mobilcard. And those who love metres in altitude can conquer them on legendary climbs nearby. Gravel fans will find forest trails in the shelter of the trees, for example to the Montiggl lakes - including a stop for a swim. This is what a cycling holiday here feels like: varied, free and full of possibilities.

Local mountain tour

The Hausbergrunde starts relaxed along the lake. Then cross the Adige bridge onto the Claudia Augusta cycle path towards Bolzano. Between the Adige and Isarco rivers, you cycle along the embankment and later along the old railway line in the shade. A short climb takes you up to Eppan - and back to Kaltern.

Racing bike
Road cycling is also my particular passion - and I'm happy to share it with you. We can talk for hours about sprocket combinations, favourite gear ratios and the perfect line on the descent. And if it suits, we'll even go for a ride together. But you'll also have a lot of fun here without me: The possibilities are endless. Mendel-Gampen, Cembra circuit, Fennberg - just a few classics. Even Lake Garda is doable. The best thing to do is simply come and experience it for yourself. Just like Team Alpecin, who have visited us several times.

Gravel
Sometimes the well-known routes around the lake get quite crowded - and that's when the gravel bike is perfect. It takes you to places where it gets quieter: on gravel, forest paths and old tracks. I particularly like riding along the old railway line into the Trudner Horn Nature Park or further up to the Alpine pastures in Aldein. And if you want to get closer: the Montiggl forest is a paradise. Up and down all day long, with hidden highlights such as the dizzying Pfattner Wänden and the picturesque Montiggl lakes. Pure gravel bliss.

Bike / Tour
E-bikes and touring bikes - that's how most people get around. And that's exactly what our region is made for. The bike purrs leisurely over to Neumarkt and on along the wine route through the villages of the Unterland. Those who prefer a grand panorama will find their happiness above Eppan: a wine region full of castles, palaces and old manor houses. The paths are well connected, the climbs manageable - and the places to take a break are marvellous. And we'll tell you the best places to stop for refreshments - and there really are quite a few - on the spot.

Ride like Matthias

Or simply as it suits you. I'm Matthias - a passionate host and cyclist. When I'm not travelling around the house, you'll often find me on my bike: along the lake, in the vineyards or up on the mountain. I like to share my favourite tours, give tips on routes, surfaces and gearing - and also tell you the best places to stop for a bite to eat. And if it suits, we'll even go for a ride together. The main thing: airstream included.
