Seewiesn with farm pub directly on the lake

Welcome to paradise.

The Seewiesn with its farm tavern is a rare natural jewel right on Lake Kaltern - embedded in a protected biotope and characterised by genuine restraint. Gentle tourism, a buzzword of the 1990s, is still consistently practised here today: as little infrastructure as necessary so that the pastures, the reeds waving in the wind and the vastness of the landscape can take effect. Tall, shady trees with rustling leaves lull every thought into the distance - and suddenly make time unimportant. Karlheinz is a special part of this place. At the Seewiesn, he serves home-made delicacies from his own garden: fresh apple strudel every day, delicious fruit tarts, legendary spinach dumplings, crisp salads and sun-ripened tomatoes from his own garden. The footbridge looks like a catwalk into the open air - and the warm, clear water of the warmest bathing lake in the Alps invites you to dive in with the best water quality.
Snack with a view of the lake?
Terrace with tables, parasols and chairs on a meadow, backlit by tall trees and a mountainous landscape.
The Seewiesn unfolds its very own magic between the unspoilt shoreline landscape and lovingly lived tradition. Here, tranquillity, pleasure and originality merge into a place that invites you to linger. Whether as a quiet retreat or as a destination for conscious time-outs - every moment seems decelerated and authentic.
The terrace on the Seewiesn opens up views of distant church towers and the wide lake. A shady spot, the ora caressing your skin, a glass of wine made from our own grapes - what more could you want?

Who is Karlheinz?
„Even as a child, I wanted to be a chef. Cooking and baking have always given me great pleasure. When I was twelve, I surprised my parents with my first apple strudel. I love being at the Seewiesn and preparing typical South Tyrolean specialities with love for the guests.“
What activities can I do at the lake?
Swimming comes first: In the friendly, clear water, you can swim freely without boat traffic and discover the lake for yourself. Many people explore it on a SUP, take a leisurely spin on a pedalo or simply float on an air mattress. When the Ora freshens up in the afternoon, surfers and sailors also find ideal conditions. And, of course, fishing is part of it - quiet, timeless and always possible. There is space for your favourite games on the lawn: from badminton to boccia and ball games.
How far is the Seewiesn from the Hotel Haus am Hang?
The Seewiesn is located around 1.5 kilometres from the Hotel Haus am Hang, on the northern shore of Lake Kaltern.

By bike: approx. 5 minutes
On foot: approx. 20 minutes

Fresh from the garden

Fresh produce from the garden and fields characterises our cuisine: potatoes, polenta, pumpkins and cabbages grow right here with us. We turn crunchy apples into strudel and flavoured juice.
